Lowell C. Rice

Sarah Ruth Caudill-Rice, Morehead State University Class of 2015, passed away in 2016 from
injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. To honor her legacy, her parents, Rev. Lowell and
Elaine Rice established this scholarship in her memory.

Sarah was a 2011 graduate of Bath County High School. She loved music and it played a major
role in her life. She was offered two vocal scholarships from major universities, choosing
Morehead State University to pursue her education. She enjoyed singing and playing the trumpet
and French horn and was member of the MSU Black Gospel Ensemble, Concert Choir, Jazz
Vocal Ensemble and Chamber Singers during her time as a student at MSU. She traveled
extensively both here and abroad with the Morehead State University Choirs. Sarah also
participated as a student performer in the annual Madrigal Holiday Feaste and the annual Spring
Gala. Sarah received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Music in May 2015. Her
ultimate goal was to receive a Masters Degree in Music Therapy.
