Patricia A. James

Merl Fair Allen, mother of the donors, graduated from MSU in 1948. Mrs. Allen went on to
touch the lives of hundreds of local students as a teacher in the Rowan County School
System. She always believed in the potential of all students and served them as a friend,
mentor, and advocate. She was active in community work, helping those who had come upon
difficult times and served as an active volunteer by serving on boards at MSU and within the
community. Merl Allen passed away in 2017.
