Tim Griffith
Tim Griffith (Class of 1971) grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and graduated from Lafayette High
School in 1966. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Kentucky for a year and then entered
the workforce by joining R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. After a year in the workforce, Tim decided
to return to college, but instead of returning to U.K., he was persuaded by his father to attend MSU.
Tim’s father was a relative of Ms. Mignon Doran, MSU’s first lady at the time, and Dr. Doran’s
leadership was highly regarded. As a student, Tim was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He
graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1971. He worked as a state accountant until
1976 when he moved to Houston, Texas. It was here where he met his wife, Irene, and started a
family. Professionally, Tim began working for Uarco Business forms as a sales representative and then
transitioned to McGraw Printing Corporation where he worked until 1996. At that time, Tim started his
own business, Paperflow, Inc. He retired in 2013 but remained working for his wife’s business, PSI
Technology, as a bookkeeper. Over the years, Tim kept up to date with the University’s progress and
maintained ties with many MSU Faculty members and fellow alumni. Tim served as a member of the
MSU Alumni Board of Directors from 2017-2023. Tim and Irene have two daughters and three
grandchildren living in Southern California. Irene established this scholarship in honor of Tim’s 75th
birthday. The couple decided to contribute at the endowment level to ensure the fund helps students
for generations to come.
